ShooterFinder DE
For hunters

Heard a shot?
Together we find the shooter.

ShooterFinder records the place, time and direction of a shot in seconds. When several hunters report the same bang, the app crosses their bearings and shows where the shooter probably stood.

poaching cases recorded by German police in 2024 – a record high

more recorded cases than in 2012
29 %
of cases are solved – the number of unreported cases is considered high

Few cases are solved because observations stay scattered: everyone hears the shot, nobody knows what the others heard. That is where ShooterFinder comes in.

Three steps to a shared picture

Poaching often gets noticed because several hunters hear the same shot – but nobody knows what the others heard. ShooterFinder brings the observations together.

Tap

One large button, usable with gloves. Time and location are saved instantly – adjustable up to five minutes back.

Take a bearing

Hold the phone flat, top edge pointing at the bang, confirm the direction. Distance, number of shots and a note are optional.

Narrow it down

From several bearings ShooterFinder computes the likely area and an estimated point – including how reliable the estimate is.

More than a cross on the map

Hearing is imprecise; wind and terrain distort the impression. ShooterFinder accounts for both.

  • Wind from the German Weather Service shifts the perceived direction and the audible range.
  • Terrain and forest from elevation and land-cover data: hints on ridges and possible echoes.
  • Probability cones instead of rigid lines – their overlap shows where it gets tight.
  • Hand-over PDF with map, bearings and all reports for the police or hunting authority.
List of reports grouped into incidents

Built for the outdoors

In the forest every second counts – and there is often no signal.

Works with gloves

Large buttons, clear steps, no fiddling.

Red night mode

Switches automatically by sun position – your eyes stay dark-adapted.

Saved offline

Without signal the report stays on the phone and is sent automatically later.

Your hunting grounds

Up to three areas. You see reports there and get notified when someone reports a shot.

Your own shot? All clear.

Hunters who fired themselves report it with two taps. Matching reports count as explained and colleagues get an all-clear.

Incidents as a team

Comments record what was found on site or what the police reported back.

How to get access

Reports contain locations and contact details. That is why ShooterFinder is reserved for hunters.

With an invitation: instantly

A local admin – for example from your hunting association – sends you a link. After signing in you are approved right away.

Without: a short check

Sign in with Apple and enter your profile and hunting area. A local admin nearby or an administrator reviews it, usually within 24 hours.

Get going

You are notified as soon as you are approved. Set your hunting area – done.

Your data stays local

  • You only see reports from your own hunting areas – and others only see yours if they hunt there.
  • Your phone number is visible only to administrators, editors in the area and hunters who reported the same shot – to everyone else only if you switch it on.
  • No tracking, no ads. Location is only recorded when you report.
  • Servers in the EU. Operated by NBaiT Ventures GmbH, Hamburg, Germany.
